MEAL Officer (MO) and supports the implementation and monitoring of

project activities conducted by Dorcas Aid International and partners.

Contract period:                              11 Months

Context

Dorcas is looking for a “MEAL Assistant”. The MEAL Assistant is accountable to the MEAL Officer and works directly together with the Project Manager and other project staff.

The position is based in Dohuk with frequent travel to Sinjar. Project activities will be carried out in Sinjar District and Wana Sub-District.

 

Range of activities under the current project:

  • Food Voucher Distributions;
  • Distribution of in-kind assistance (poultry, greenhouses, vaccines & fodder for livestock);
  • Training of beneficiaries on agricultural topics;

Main responsibilities:

  • (Co)Development of household assessments tools measuring Food Insecurity;
  • (Co)Development of households’ assessment tools for assessing eligibility to receive Poultry, Greenhouses, Livestock support;
  • (Co)Development of Post Implementation Monitoring (PDM) tools for above activities;
  • (Co)Developing evaluation tools to assess the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact and sustainability of the project.
  • Training of project staff and daily workers on how to use the developed tools;
  • Plan and oversee data-collection carried out by project staff and daily workers through Kobo, Focus Group Discussions, Surveys and other means;
  • Summarizing collected data for further analysis by the MEAL Officer;
  • Write basic M&E reports;
  • Fill Indicator Tracking Tables and monitor the project’s progress.

Organizational representation

  • Develop and maintain contacts with all relevant stakeholders including government, security forces, partner organizations;
  • Cooperate with government institutions, non-government organizations, and the local community;
  • Regularly attend cluster coordination and other relevant meetings;
  • Represent the project/program in front of relevant stakeholders;
  • Act as liaison to and cooperate with other DORCAS AID INTERNATIONAL projects/programs in the region;
  • Regularly share information on lessons learnt in the field.

Requirements

Experience
•   Minimum one (1) years of experience in a relevant MEAL position within an (I)NGO;

Knowledge
•   Strong working knowledge (spoken, written and reading) of English, Arabic and Kurdish;

  • Working knowledge of data-collection tools (i.e. KOBO)
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet, Email);
  • Basic knowledge about humanitarian principles;

•    Diplomacy, good communication and interpersonal skills
•    Rigorous, organized, ethical mindset;

Accommodation and travel

  • The position is based in Dohuk;
  • Project activities will be implemented in Sinjar District and Wana Sub-District;
  • As such, frequent travel to Sinjar will be required (minimum once a month). Transportation costs will be arranged by Dorcas Aid International. Accommodation will be in the team house in Sinuni;
  • Limited travel to Mosul/Erbil might be necessary for training purposes.
